As Christmas time is approaching we all know how easy it is to constantly keep picking at all the nice sweets and sugary foods that have been bought especially for this festive occasion, So we would like to offer you some tips and advice on how to keep your teeth clean and healthy over the Christmas period.
Did you know that the biggest factor for cavity development is from the amount of sugar exposure in your mouth and that the longer you leave the sugars exposed to your teeth the higher the chance it is for developing cavities… We recommend over this period of time to brush your teeth more than normal and try aim to brush 1 hour after you have exposed your teeth to these sugary foods. The reason for this is over the Christmas period you are more likely to eat twice as much sugary sweets that you don’t intend to regularly there for twice as much bacteria can grow causing unwanted cavity’s and fillings.
As mentioned above, cavity development is from a build-up of sugary foods that have been exposed to the teeth for a long period of time. However brushing regularly is key, it doesn’t always get the smallest bits of food hiding in between the teeth. It is super important to floss regularly to prevent any cavities or even worse gum disease!! We recommend using a water flosser as it is proven to be more effective than traditional flossing. Water flossing helps to remove any of the food bits stuck between your teeth as well as removing any bacteria that has been missed when brushing.

Do you brush your teeth before or after using a Waterflosser?
Water flossers work best when used before brushing your teeth. This will allow the stuck-on debris to dislodge and then you can easily brush the remaining area free of all particles.
How many times per day should I use my Water Flosser?
You should use your Water Flosser at least once per day.
Are Waterflossers worth it?
Using a Water flosser can be especially helpful for getting into hard-to-reach areas of the mouth, tightly spaced teeth, and periodontal pockets that may be caused by early gum disease. They can also help to keep breath fresher, longer, which is an added plus.
