Why should I choose Invisalign?

If the first thing that comes to your mind when you pose for a photo is that you want to hide or shy away from your smile due to crooked teeth or gap in the front teeth or your misaligned bite, and if you love a beautiful smile with straight and symmetrical teeth, look no further!

Come to us and we will talk to you in detail about Invisalign – a series of clear, removable aligners – may be the ideal treatment for you. Since they are almost invisible, most people won’t even know you’re in the middle of orthodontic treatment!

At 32 Gems, we are regularly asked about Invisalign and how effective it is at straightening teeth.  As with any new technology, people often wonder, does this really work? and the answer is, yes. If you want a straight and beautiful smile without making it obvious that you are undergoing braces treatment, this is the best solution for you. All you need to do is to follow our instructions to ensure that your teeth move correctly and as quickly as possible. For example, aligners need to be worn for around 22 hours a day.

We recommend Invisalign braces to move your teeth because they are discreet, comfortable, convenient, and effective.

Invisalign Teeth Straightening

Invisalign works through the use of transparent plastic aligners. These aligners are virtually invisible, clear/no metal brackets or wires, and virtually invisible- your friends may not even notice that you are wearing them.

The aligners are designed to apply minimal pressure on your teeth. You can remove them while eating, they help you maintain good oral hygiene as you can conveniently brush and floss after meals or at night and put them on again! Which unfortunately is not doable with metal wires and brackets.

Since the aligners are removable, they can fit neatly into your lifestyle. You can remove them while eating, they help you maintain good oral hygiene as you can conveniently brush and floss after meals or at night and put them on again! Which unfortunately is not doable with metal wires and brackets. If you have a social function or an interview, you can remove the aligners for an evening and then put them back in place to continue the treatment.

Invisalign aligners are custom-designed specifically for you. They are designed to gradually move your teeth into place. As long as you wear your aligners consistently and as advised the journey to a perfect smile is smooth sailing!

Invisalign is not only effective and convenient when it comes to straightening teeth, but it is also an excellent alternative to conventional metal braces for the following reasons:

  • Appearance – clear/no metal
  • Comfort – removable when necessary
  • Safety – smooth with no wires
  • Duration of treatment – as short as a year
  • Knowing what to expect – no surprises

Invisalign Information

What Happens During The Treatment?

To begin with the treatment, your dentist will see you for a consultation and examination. At this appointment, we will take a full mouth series of Xrays and photos. We also take a 3D scan of your teeth and jaws to be able to make a 3D model of your teeth. It is all done digitally, so no uncomfortable moulds are taken. Once we obtain all this information, it is sent to the lab and they send the design plan back which is known as CLIN-Check.

A CLIN-CHECK is a visual programme on the computer where you can see how the movement of teeth will progress and how long will it take. Once you are happy with the Clin-check, it is sent back to the lab to create the aligner trays.

Once the trays are back, we can start the Invisalign journey. There may be the need of attaching “small tooth-coloured buttons’ on your teeth to facilitate the movements. These are made of tooth coloured filling materials and can be safely removed at the end of the treatment without damaging the enamel of your teeth.

Wearing the aligners for at least 22 hours per day

While you can remove Invisalign trays when necessary, you would want to keep them in as much as possible. Ideally, you wear the aligners or trays for 22 hours a day & while sleeping too.

However, you can remove the aligner trays when eating and to brush & floss your teeth. You can also remove them if you are going for a social function or an interview or taking photos but they should be worn back as soon as possible. Needless to say, you should not wear them while eating or drinking- so you go on an Invisalign diet as well!

Staying on schedule

We will need to see you every 6 weeks to check on the progress and to give you new sets of aligners. Generally we will give you 3 sets which will last you about 6 weeks. By following the schedule, the patient’s teeth will continue to move into the proper position without pain.

Keep up regular oral hygiene

While wearing Invisalign, oral hygiene is so easy. You will be able to brush and floss as normal by just removing the aligner trays. However, it is crucial to brush after each meal to keep food from sticking between the teeth.

Food that is stuck in the teeth can also damage the aligners.

Are there any activities that cannot be done while wearing aligners?

You should be able to complete all of your activities while wearing aligners, except for eating and brushing and flossing your teeth. You will need to take out your aligners while eating a meal or when you are drinking hot coffee or tea, since the heat can warp the aligners.

You may choose not to wear them for a particular event or a social evening, however we recommend if you do choose to do so, you should make this duration as short as possible.

What happens once I have completed my treatment?

When you are on the last set of aligners, we take another scan of your teeth and jaws. This helps us to make a set of retainers for you. We recommend to wear the retainers every night to help maintain the new position of your teeth.
